New Energy Technology Systems (NETS) – Pilot (6 Day)

The NETS course aims to upskill electricians within the battery storage industry setting. The pilot is developing new course resources and implementing a new visual learning approach prior to, during and post course. Learners will have access to a range of short videos to support training, retention and synthesis of information as well as scenario-based learning. Post course, learners will access information and updates to keep abreast of the on-going changes in the ‘new energy’ storage sector.

Course Details:

The pilot is part-time and delivered using a combination of online/remote and classroom-based learning:

  • Classroom delivery - 6 days (refer to delivering RTOs for details)
  • Pre-learning videos for all 3 units – approx. 4 hours
  • Assessments to be submitted both in class and after class.


  • VU22123 Undertake site assessment for installation of grid-connected renewable energy generation system
  • VU22125 Design a grid-connected battery storage system to meet client requirements
  • UEERE4001 Install, maintain and fault find battery storage systems for grid-connected photovoltaic systems

To participate in the Future Energy Skills-led pilot program, you must:

  • Be a Victorian resident
  • Hold a current A Class Electrician’s Licence
  • Have successfully completed UEENEEK148A – Install, configure and commission LV grid-connected photovoltaic power systems
  • Undertake all three units of the New Energy
  • Technology Systems course

Course Cost:

$480 for eligible students* + the cost of some materials
*Refer to individual RTOs for confirmation of costs.

Participants undertaking this course will be billed through their existing Middy’s account.
Class sizes limited to ensure quality hands-on training. Spaces allocated on first in first served basis.
